Our History
The Gas Service and MGE Retirees' Association of Missouri was started in 1992-1993 by Jack Adams and Virgil Polk.The first meeting was held at the Shriners on Interstate 435. Several retirees attended this meeting with most of them from the Kansas City Metro Area. Guests at that meeting were Charles Rambo and Al Singer who gave their OK to setup the association. From that meeting we began to call retirees and divisions. From those phone calls we setup the original Board of Directors. The original Officers were: Jack Adams, Chairman Virgil Polk, Vice Chairman Kate Dull, Secretary Frances Gay, Treasure After about 15 years, the original officers retired and the association was then taken over by Clarence Miller. Clarence was Chairman for about nine years. During the annual meetings, the divisions usually had members in attendance. The above information was furnished by Jack Adams and Virgil Polk at a meeting on July 5, 2012.
